Faults we repair

Every stage of the drive

  • Power section: failed IGBT modules, rectifier bridges, DC-bus capacitors, pre-charge circuits, braking choppers.
  • Gate drive: driver ICs, optocouplers, gate resistors and isolated supplies. We check gate resistance, isolation and dead time before power-up.
  • Control and interface: main control cards, I/O and fibre-optic boards, communication cards, keypads and displays.
  • Feedback: encoder interfaces, current sensors, speed loops.
  • Cooling: fans, heatsinks, thermal paste, thermal-trip circuits.

Typical trip codes we clear: overcurrent, DC-bus overvoltage and undervoltage, earth fault, IGBT or heatsink overtemperature, phase loss, communication loss.

DC drives and soft starters

Not only AC drives

Thyristor DC drives: firing circuits, thyristor bridges, field supplies, armature loops, feedback and speed-loop calibration, on ABB DCS550 and DCS800, Siemens SIMOREG 6RA70 and 6RA80, and Eurotherm 590 series drives.

Soft starters: SCR modules, bypass contactors, control cards and protection settings.

Long-stored drives

Capacitors first

Drives kept on the shelf for a year or more need their DC-bus capacitors reformed before power-up, or they can fail the moment they are switched on. We reform them under control, or replace capacitors whose ESR has drifted, before the drive goes back into service.

On site

When the drive can't come to us

In and around Jharkhand, our engineers come to site for software and parameter faults, minor errors, and commissioning after repair. Most real repairs need our bench setup, so the drive usually comes to the workshop.

Outside Jharkhand? Send the drive by courier. We already repair drives for customers in Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and other states.

On-site service

Brand-specific repair

We also repair drives from Fuji Electric, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Danfoss, Hitachi, KEB, Lenze, Control Techniques, NORD, FANUC, L&T, Eurotherm, Panasonic. Send us the model number and we'll tell you straight away if we have worked on it.

Independent repair. Electronic Point is not an authorised service centre of any drive manufacturer.

Questions buyers ask

Before you send a drive

Can you repair a drive the manufacturer has discontinued?

Usually, yes. Obsolete drives are a large part of our work. We source equivalent components and, where needed, matched modules through our end-of-life sourcing network.

What does a VFD repair cost?

It depends on what failed. A control-card fault costs far less than a failed power stage. After a free inspection you get a written quote before any chargeable work starts.

Do you need the drive parameters?

If you have a backup, send it with the drive. If not, we read and save the parameters before repair where the drive allows it, and restore them afterwards.

What if the drive cannot be repaired?

You pay nothing for the evaluation, and we can quote a suitable replacement drive.

How long does a repair take?

We reply by the next day after the drive reaches us, with the fault and a quote. Standard repairs then take 5–7 working days. Priority breakdown repairs take 1–3 working days, depending on parts.

Do you keep spares?

Yes. We hold IGBTs, power modules, driver ICs, capacitors, fans and control-card parts in stock, so most repairs do not wait for parts.

Can you copy parameters to a new or repaired drive?

Yes. We back up, restore and copy parameters between drives, and set up a replacement drive to match the old one before it goes to your plant.

We are outside Jharkhand. Can we send a drive?

Yes. Customers from Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and other states send drives to us by courier or transport. On-site visits are limited to Jharkhand and nearby areas.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, 6 months on the repaired unit.

Can you come to our plant?

In and around Jharkhand, yes: for software and parameter faults, minor errors and commissioning. Most real repairs need our bench setup, so the drive usually comes to the workshop.

Breakdown support

Drive down? Send us the nameplate.

A clear photo of the nameplate and the fault code on the display is usually enough for us to tell you what's likely wrong and what it will take.
